Gokayama, Toyama Prefecture, famous for the World Heritage Site Ainokura Gassho-Zukuri Village, has been producing handmade washi paper since ancient times. Washi clay, made by reusing scraps from the washi production process, is pressed into a mold, dried, and covered with dark blue washi, then painted by hand to create these lovely good-luck charms.
