Quality and Efficiency: Review Products to Streamline Production

Selection of MUJI products

Reviewing products is a crucial step in the production process at MUJI, as it allows us to identify any unnecessary or wasteful processes. By carefully scrutinizing each product, we can streamline our manufacturing processes and create beautifully simple goods. This commitment to quality and efficiency not only helps us offer affordable high-quality products but also ensures that we minimize our impact on the environment. Ultimately, by reviewing our products, we can continue to improve our production process and offer customers the best possible products.

Streamlining for Simplicity

MUJI Cut Cotton Ecru

We carefully scrutinize every step of our production process to identify unnecessary and wasteful practices. By streamlining our manufacturing processes, we are able to offer high-quality goods at an affordable price. For instance, our Cut Cotton Ecru is made of 100% cotton that is expertly pressed into shape. This design ensures that the cotton pad is less absorbent, allowing you to use your skincare products more efficiently. Moreover, our ecru color is unbleached, making it a great choice for everyday use. With this product, you can enjoy the benefits of a quality cotton pad without wasting any product.

We are working to select raw materials that have been collected and cultivated in a way that imposes as little excessive burden on the earth, plants, animals, and producers as possible. As a result, we choose organic cotton as the material for our cotton products. Unlike ordinary cotton, which requires a large amount of pesticides and chemical fertilizers during cultivation, organic cotton is grown through natural processes on land that has not been treated with agrochemicals or chemical fertilizers for more than three years. Although the production process for organic cotton takes more time and effort than conventional cotton cultivation, and requires suitable climate and land, we believe the benefits to the environment and the health of the producers are well worth it. Since 1999, MUJI has been sourcing organic cotton from various locations worldwide, including India, China, Turkey, and the United States. By choosing organic cotton, we are not only creating high-quality products, but also supporting sustainable and responsible farming practices.

In our skincare line, we start by sourcing water from a naturally filtered cave in Northeast Japan. This eliminates the need for additional purification processes, making our production more efficient and reducing waste. Our sensitive skin care series is designed to provide ample moisture and care without the use of unnecessary ingredients. It is alcohol, fragrance, and paraben-free, which not only makes it gentle on the skin but also helps reduce the environmental impact of our production. By streamlining our skincare processes, we aim to create products that are both effective and sustainable.

Sewing Denim

On our mission to streamline processes, MUJI is committed to being conscious and compassionate towards the environment. In the production of our denim products, we have eliminated distressed processing, which is usually done manually or with lasers. This process is not only time-consuming and taxing on the human body, but it also consumes a lot of electricity. Furthermore, our denim now features a new color called "blue", which requires 1/3 of the thread dyeing process compared to the traditional "dark navy" color, thus reducing the amount of water used in the washing process as well. With our denim, we strive to create products that can be enjoyed over time, while also minimizing our environmental impact.
