Shimokawahara Pottery was the official kiln of the Tsugaru Clan for making daily necessities. The feudal lord of the time was concerned about the lack of toys in Tsugaru, so he ordered earthenware dolls to be made during the winter holidays. For about 200 years since then, various dolls such as pigeon flutes and zodiac flutes have been made, and they have been loved by people as representative local toys of Tsugaru.
